Aims of meeting.
This aim of this course was to ensure vector control technical officers involved in vector surveillance in the Pacific understood how to perform basic vector surveillance activities. One technical officer from each Pacific Island country was eligible to attend the one week long course. Two periods were held with 10-12 students per instruction period. The sessions were held 26th to 30th September and 10th to 14th October 2022.

e.g., rearing mosquitoes in an insectary

Insecticide resistance assays on adults
e.g., tubes tests and bottle bioassays

Insecticide resistance assays on larvae
e.g., larval bioassays

Product efficacy tests on adults
e.g., cone test for residual efficacy of insecticides

Reporting and analysis of assay results
e.g., calcuations and use of Abbott's correction factor
06
Taxonomic identification
e.g., basics of adult ID
